It's about that time to gather 'round the table and tell stories while Grandpa falls asleep in his recliner. Inspired by the quintessential Fall gathering dessert of pumpkin pie and coffee, we brewed this Amber Ale with cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla bean, lactose and Necessary Blend Coffee. Stop in and give it a try!⠀

I love OTB! Their location at the southwest corner of W Walnut & N Prince Streets places them only a few blocks from my mother's house, so I CANbine a visit to her place with a stop at the brewery. Better yet, they release (at least) one new beer every week, making it even more CANpelling to stop in to get a Crowler to go for The CANQuest (tm). I am curious to see what they release each week & I have been diligent about stopping in.

From the Crowler/CAN: "10/24".

I have gotten pretty good about the Crack! & Glug of these Crowlers, given that I am buying at least one a week. They have a tendency to dribble during the Glug & so I CANduct this action at the sink or over the trash CAN. This one was textbook-perfect & created two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, tawny head with very good retention. Color was a NE-plus quality clarity, button-/filament-bright Deep Amber/Light Copper to Copper (SRM = > 13, < 17)! 8=O Gorgeous! Nose smelled of Fall spices, vanilla & coffee. Yum. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was equal to its nose with a spicy coffee & vanilla flavor, somewhere between Chai tea & French Vanilla coffee, if such a realm exists. I really dug the intermingling of the flavors in this one & was impressed that they pulled it off so skillfully. However, I would have liked it to have had more intensity in terms of its flavor. I CANstantly feel like they are pulling their punches in their beers, going for subtle when intense would have been more satiating. For example, the coffee was discernible in this one, but it could have been more powerful. 8=( OTOH, I think that the spices were just about right. Hmm. It makes it difficult to quantify. Finish was appropriately dry, as any beer that inCANporates spices should be expected to be. This was a very appropriate beer for Hallowe'en & I appreciate their having brewed it for the ocCANsion. YMMV.
