L: Thick, almost black pour, small khaki head fades quickly.
S: Coffee aroma is almost gone, some chocolate and bourbon.
T: There is some coffee, chocolate, and Bourbon.
F: Thick and smooth. Not much carbonation left.
O: This has six years on it, the coffees almost gone, flavors are a bit muddled. Had the plain old version the other day, it held up better.

12 ounce can into a snifter. Canned 5/8/19 (yes), had 9/24/19.

Pours a very dark and opaque brown, with a quarter inch quickly dissipating head and some spotty cling. Aromas of coffee, roasted malt, some bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, oak, char, molasses, some prunes, light tobacco. The flavor narrows a bit- coffee, bourbon, roasted malt, vanilla, chocolate, molasses, some oak. Smooth, a good full body, well carbonated.

Seems a touch thinner than the coconut & vanilla variant, which in turn was a touch thinner than the original. So, it’s a little bit of a negative, here. The coffee shines in leading a great aroma that is much more expressive than the flavor. Enjoyable, but a step down from the original and C&V variant. One variant to go....

Jet black viscous body, no head. Dark chocolate, vanilla, molasses, coffee, plenty of bourbon and caramel, very similar to bcbs actually but a little less subtle. Taste has the coffee as way too harsh however, breaking up the luxurious flavors from the smell. Coffee ground, bourbon booze, chocolate, smoke, and vanilla all miss-mashed, too bad. Feel starts viscous, smooth and dark, but then with the coffee gets blown up into sharpness and booze. Good in a small dose, but a whole pint is more of a challenge

Thanks, @mschrei.

This pours thick and black with a nice tan head.

The smell is loaded with chocolate and coffee with a nice barrel presence.

The taste is beautifully done with a smoky, char finish and bourbon, coffee, and chocolate up front.

The mouthfeel is very thick and lingering.

Great beer. I'm not sure why the scores are relatively low on this one.

Looks like I’m here to throw the score off, cause I really enjoyed this one.

Appearance is a standard stout-dark, a little tanning around the edges, and there was very little in the way of foam and almost no lacing after a while.

Smell may be the best quality of it. Well balanced notes of bourbon barrel and coffee hit me right upside my nostrils.

Taste seems to present the bourbon barrel more. Tangy barrel presence right in front and then the burn of the booze in the back of the mouth, with subtly bitter coffee in the middle.

Mouthfeel on this one is pleasant. It’s bold but not overpowering. There’s a hint of oiliness to it, but nothing like soy sauce. It’s a mouth filling beer, hits the taste buds everywhere, and it’s slightly mouth watering.

Overall, this is an excellent beer. I didn’t review the regular version last night, but I may have enjoyed that slightly more. I would recommend it to anybody who enjoys the style.

Canned 5/8/19; drank 6/1/19 @ the Yarchives.

Black appearance.

A violent pour yielded a huge dark khaki head; strong lace.

Oak, burnt black coffee, burnt caramel, booze heat & curdled cream notes in the nose. Yikes...

Thick, creamy mouthfeel.

Oak, bourbon heat, burnt black coffee & curdled cream flavors.

If the point of a Russian Imperial Stout is to be unpleasant, they nailed it. I've had my last.

Had on draft @ the Wild Onion Tied House. Biggest takeaway was a lack of balanced barrel character, harsh coffee notes, extremely fizzy mouthfeel. Glad I tried this on draft and didn't buy a 4-pack.
