Wild Onion Brewery "Pineapple Misfit IPA"
12 oz. can "PKG 04/01/2022
$2.99 @ Wall to Wall Wine and Spirits, Omaha, NE
Notes via stream of consciousness: The body is a somewhat hazy amber with lots of visible particulate in suspension beneath a three finger thick head of white foam. Let me top it up and see how it looks... ahh, yes, it's a beautiful rocky cap rising out of the glass. There's tropical fruit and pineapple in the nose but is it real? I don't see anything on the label about natural flavors so I'm assuming it is. Ahh, yes, there it is right on the front of the label, "ALE BREWED WITH PINEAPPLE". Beyond that it's citrusy over a sweetish, bready, and lightly caramelish malt base. On to the taste... not surprisingly it's very much like the aroma. The sweetish and bready malt remains and there are notes of pineapple, orange, ripe lychee, peach, pine, grapefruit, and passionfruit. A median bitterness is present throughout, keeping it from becoming too sweet, and leading to a dry finish with a combination of fruit and dull pine lingering. It's medium bodied and smooth in the mouth will a moderate to median level carbonation. The head has held up well and there's some nice lacing left behind (I'm only halfway through it). I cannot remember what the standard Misfit IPA is like as I taste so many IPAs these days but what I can say is that with something like this I usually find the added fruit of little benefit, or even distracting and that's not the case here.

Sampled in a taster glass from draft at O'Toole's on November 1, 2019. A juicy, hoppy and malty India Pale Ale with a hint of pineapple on the finish.

12oz can, PKG 05/22/19. Thanks to my friend, Jay, for giving me a can to try. Hazy light orange colored body with a foamy ivory head the remains as a thin layer of foam atop the ale. Pineapple, citrus and light caramel aroma. Pineapple is the focal point of flavor accompanied by the base beer notes of caramel, grapefruit, and piney mango. Medium body, resinous and prickly on the palate, moderate bitterness on the dry finish. Overall, good addition of the pineapple to an already good beer. I can't see myself buying this one again, but it was nice to try a fruited variation of a good IPA.

Had this on tap. The look was a darkish orange color with a medium amount of carbonation. The smell was nice with a lot of pineapple up front and a little malty bread smell. The taste was a little disappointing compared to the smell. I thought it was a little light. Overall not bad, I loved the smell but it did not translate to the taste very well.
