Pours an effervescent Chestnut with 2 fingers of tan head. Above average head retention & lacing, barely

S: Very roasty, iron, hints of dark chocolate. Sweet chocolate picks up once warm

T: Follows the nose, very dry, more cocoa, bit some Baker's Chocolate as well, faint woody hops up front. Roasty, some sweet & bitter chocolate notes, plus woody hops & iron once warmed up. Finishes roasty, dry with a hint of woody hops & cocoa

MF: Medium body, smooth carbonation

Good straight forward Stout, easy to quaff

Poured from a can at fridge temp. Pours black with slightly off-white head. The nose is full of roasted malts, coffee grounds, and dark chocolate. Smokey and earthy. Really nice.

The taste is, like the nose, really heavy on the roasted malts. Quite bitter on the aftertaste. This is just a nice and relatively simple bitter stout. Kind of old school, which I love. French roast coffee grounds, charred wood, oak, earthy.

Mouthfeel is somewhat light bodied.

Sampling a cellar temp 16 oz can/crowler from the brewery. Canned/packaged 1/24/2025.
The beer pours a rich cola brown and rests like dark coffee in the glass and no light passes through. A fluffy beige head foams up about 2.5 cm and slowly fades to a sturdy surface layer.
Aroma is roasted malt , dark chocolate, and just a bit of burnt coffee. A little bit of a chalky mineral scent in there too. Not really any hop note here on the nose.
First sip reveals a medium to lighter body and fine gentle carbonation. Texture is smooth and the beer drinks easy on the physical traits.
Flavor is similar to the nose, roasted malts and some dark chocolate, the roast borders onto char. Not a sweet beer.
There is a little bit of a grassy or plant hop note buried in the background. But this is malt forward beer. Never any hints of the ABV on this one.
Nice straightforward stout. Easy drinker that I enjoy.
