Modern Lore starts off a classic German lager, but during primary fermentation, gets a 10% blend of Grandsire, our ever-evolving house sour culture to add a touch of tartness and complexity. Grandsire imparts a lemongrass finish along with a hint of hay from the Brett expressing itself alongside the lager yeast.
Brewed with 100% Sugar Creek Malt Co. malt. Pilsner, munich, as well as malted corn and rice for a clean and smooth sipper. Zuper Saazer hops from Hop Head Farms lend a hint of white grape skins that meld wonderfully with the slightly tannic and vinous oak aged Grandsire. As most things we do, this beer is good to crush now or cellar for months or even years. For the time being, it remains mostly lager, but in time Grandsire will claim domain, increasing in acidity and depth.

Pale gold with a large head of sudsy foam, it laces nicely in the glass. Aroma and taste are all Pilsner, as it's too young to have developed any wild character yet from the 10% Grandsire blend. Light bodied, crisp and easy drinking. A light astringency present. Not really as assertive as Area X, their Brett Lager. Still a drinkable beer, good for hot summer weather.
