sturdy and real hazy, even a little rugged and raw, but a nice can of beer, cool hop flavors from heaps of citra and strata, super new wave, juicy and peachy and drippy and ripe without hardly any bitterness, despite the fact that its obvious a ton of hops were used. this is my first beer from these guys, first i have ever heard of them even, courtesy of my friend who was just up there, lucky to have beer friends! the citra is in front of the strata here in the nose for me, meyer lemon and lemongrass, key lime, and white grapefruit flesh all come out, herbal too, fresher than the rest of it seem to be, like the hops pop but there is some oxidation behind them. the strata has faint green onion to it, but also a bunch of stone fruit character, dried apricot, mango, and even red apple for a flash, and it marries beautifully with the citra both in aroma and flavor. a little too much heft here in texture, the flavors border on tropical but this drinks heavy, wheaty, starchy, and a little unrefined. it is well carbonated, but its not enough to lighten this, and with the higher alcohol content, this isnt one you could really make a day of. its not super unique either, but its got a lovely hop profile, as i have come to expect from the yakima area operations. i actually think i liked the fruited sour i had from them a little better than this. thankful to have had these shared with me, i hope to check these guys out next time through!
