i found this to be very unique as the fruited kettle sours go, and in a number of ways. looks like they do a whole series of these with different combinations of fruits, but this one really hits, my favorite of the two i had from these guys, courtesy of my friend in utah who was recently there. the base seems berliner-esque, but its got a real deep color on it, rusty orange, looks stained from the fruit but also maybe richer in malt than a lot of these are, its way past pale into the almost caramel looking range. it has an inch of fizzy khaki head rise up and then recede almost as fast, and its lightly hazy but without any real sediment, even at the bottom of the can, so its already ahead on the refinement curve. to me all the fruits hit at once, and seem to be in more or less equal proportion to each other, a little more peach in the nose, a little more passion in the taste, the tartness of the base beer brings that out, and it lingers the longest, this is off dry but has some hang time seemingly unrelated to the residual sugar. the peach is the most natural to me, the mango the most sweet, and the passion takes me on vacation. i kind of like the fruits with the little extra grain, more depth, more interest, and also more beer than juice which i like. the ferment is pretty clean, the sourness is moderate, and there is some cool balance to this, good carbonation too. this is better than many, i hope to get a chance to try some of the other beers in this series! fun stuff
