Beautiful brew: crystal clear dark reddish-amber body, with excellent head production, good retention, and OK lacing.
Nose is an excellent showcase of caramel malt, with just enough hops to brighten up the presentation. Caramel, toffee, pine, toast, and light citrus.
Flavor follows: this is a malt-forward but balanced brew, not at all an IPA masquerading as an amber. Zero off flavors; it drinks clean and tasty right through the aftertaste. Tasting notes match the nose, along with a bit of cola.
Lively, medium bodied, a touch oily.
This is a beer you can tell they put some serious care into brewing just right. Going with a straight forward amber ale - no crazy ABV, no massive hops, no additives - as an anniversary ale tells you they were serious about their approach, and it shows in the delivery.
