The appeal here is it offers a change of pace from the ubiquitous juicy dipas. Brewed with Citra and what they describe as “high oil” cascade hops (which is what intrigued me enough to pay dipa prices for session beer abv.) and there is definitely a resinous element that kind of sticks to your tongue and stings it as the dryness of the finish takes hold. That oily resin seems to dominate and lingers somewhat to the detriment of any competing flavors, which are struggling to pop out. Despite it’s haziness, it actually reminds me of traditional UK IPA (something like Deuchar’s) in that there’s a grassy, herbal dominance (presumably from the cascade) that drowns out the more modern/fruitier, citra neipa vibes. A good hazy session… but I think I prefer west coast or old school english styles of session beers to sessionable hazies.
