A coffee forward stout that while not bad, does not rise to the level of a Murphy's or Guiness. It is somewhat flat, but I have no idea how old this sample is that was procured in the refrigerator of my local bottle shop. Poured from a 16oz can into a Sam Smith's glass, the head was pretty weak.

Pours deep dark with slight fading head on draught in pint glass. Smooth notes of coffee stout with a nice bite make this another really good micro local from Paperback Brewery. Cheers.

Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a black color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of roasted malts, smoke. Taste is roasted malts, some coffee, smokey. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer.

From the makers of WTF (spelled out, really) IPA - The name and can art get your attention, I even suspected it was from Connecticut, but no. Paperback Brewing is in Glendale, CA just 20 miles from me. $5.49 for a single pint can yesterday, there's no date info found on the can.
Description on can says: The only thing they loved more than a Cold War was a cold stout.
From brewer's web page it lists Willamette, Cascade, British Kent and Goldings.
Poured somewhat aggressively into a KC Chiefs pint glass, the look is espresso coffee with a thin tan layer of foam that drops away to a ring, slight scattered lacing.
Smell and taste are both coffee forward, not much anything else detected. Feel is thin and uninteresting.
It was a clever package, but if I'd ordered in a pub I'd have to send it back. Won't be looking again for this one.
Gave it 3.5 overall for the awesome packaging creativity.
