Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a light to moderately hazy, medium golden amber with a two finger white head with great retention and solid lacing. Aroma of pale malt, citrus and piney hops, orange, grapefruit and light coconut. Flavor is pale malt with a touch of caramel, citrus and piney hops, orange, grapefruit, coconut, mint and mixed tropical fruit. Lingering, resinous piney and citrus rind finish with a little coconut. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. Adding coconut to an IPA with Sabro hops seems like a great idea and it works out pretty slick. The base IPA is great, my idea of a classic West Coast style with lots of citrus and pine and excellent bitterness. The hints of coconut in Sabro are boosted a bit, but wisely kept at a level appropriate for an ale rather than a mixed drink. I'm impressed with this one, but they had me right away with a fine classic IPA. The coconut gives it a little more character and tastes good today on one of the early warmish days of the year. Kudos. Wish this was a regular in my area.
