Paperback Brewing - Bourbon Barrel Aged Death By Chocolate . Imperial stout with pecans, vanilla , coconut and cocoa nibs. Unknown ABV
A good friend works at this brewery. Had a long chat at a table with head and assistant brewers the other day. Can you Guess what i talked about?
A keg of this was found somewhere inside the brewery and no one knew it still existed.
Nose - Dark 70% Chocolate assault followed by hints of vanilla sweetness. Very faint oaky smell . All chocolate in this one. Not one hint of coconut on nose( which i am not mad at)
Look - poured out black with deep brown on edges and Settles into glass like used motor Oil.
Taste - like nose is Chocolate bomb with sweet vanilla and picking up nutiness. Waves of roasted malt come by and go . Not picking up coconut on taste either. Reminds me a bit of old school Wootstout but a little less aggressive. Prolly a lighter abv but ABV was unknown cuz keg was unmarked. I think it may be around 9-10 %.
There was a version of this released before but they don't know if this was the one they tapped . They weren't selling growlers of this but what are friends that work at brewries for , right??
Mouthfeel - a little bit on thin side but drinks very easy. Sits around for a few seconds and then ready for another gulp! Im for sure knocking this can down.
Overall 4/5 . This can easily be a daily drinker. Id give it 4.25 if barrel presence was more prominent. Its like drinking a devils food cake .
