This is hoppy for a pilsner. On the can, it is described as a West Coast-Style Pilsner. It seems they hopped a lager with all the classic WCIPA hops. It seems like there's at least Citra or Cascade in there, but I think there's some German pilsner hops too
The aroma is confusing, because the initial hoppy punch makes me think I'm drinking a pale ale, but then the crackery lager notes on the back end interact with the hops and you get this IPL Hybrid thing.
I wasn't sure whether to call it an Imperial Pilsner or an IPL. It feels like it shouldn't count as either. It's a West Coast-style Pilsner. Notes of pear, green apple, sugarcane and jicama grace the palate along grainy earthy sweetness from the lager malt. It also gets a kind of toasted coconut note in the middle, after the herbal tart hoppy notes dissipate.
The crisp bite of this makes WC IPA's seem heavy by comparison. This is a really interesting style and I wish people would brew more beer like this. Cheers!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
