Splitting the difference between traditional IPA and more hazy ones, Magnanimous fully embraces the fog while not giving up on those classic "C" hops just yet.
Pouring a bright and lemony yellow appearance, the matte finish of Fog Theory caps off with a cottony white froth. As its aromas of citrus, spruce, tropical fruit and bright botanicals build on the nose, its initial taste is soft with cereal, creamy wheat and dough with a pep of powdered sugar and angel-food cake.
Fruity and tangy to the middle palate, the hops spring forth with the brightness and sharpness of white grapefruit, oranges, lemon peel and a squeeze of lime. Hints of mango, apricot pineapple and passionfruit follow as the ale takes a more tropical turn before the ale tightens into a drier and more bitter late palate, laced with pine needle, hemp, muddled fruit peels and gin-like botanicals.
Medium bodied and trending drier then usual, the session finishes on the bitter side of bitter-sweet and with a snappy hop bite. A mild hop derived astringency plagues the finish with peppery tannins that reside in the otherwise clean and bitter resins.

Canned 6/16/21; drank 8/9/21 @ Hot Dog Vista.
Drank straight from the can; no visual cues.
Tangy pineapple, table sugar & dank pine in the nose & on the palate; too dank & pine-y, in fact.
Abrasive.

Poured a cloudy yellow body with minimal head that quickly dies and left no lace. The aroma struck me as acidic with a smell reminiscent of orange or white grapefruit juice. Medium body, a little sticky at times, balances something like white grapefruit or tangerine slickness and sweetness with a sharp acidic hop bitterness and ends up finishing clean. A tad too acidic for my liking but pretty good beer to relax with.
