Fueled with Citra, Mosaic, Galaxy and Vic Secret Hops, Magnanimous Brewing teams up with Resident Culture for an Imperial IPA that's double the fun.
Dullish with goldenrod and burnt orange, the turbidly dense Lord of Lightening floats a creamy and tarnish froth and emits a bursting citrus perfume rife with oranges, tropical fruit, herbal, floral and candied scents. Generously sweet, bready and cereal-like, the session starts with honey, shortcake and dough.
But the middle palate picks up where the scent leaves off- with a ripe, rich and radiant citrus taste of pink grapefruit, tangerine and lime with a succulent zing of tropical medleys of pineapple, mango, passionfruit and papaya. Trending nearly tangy with sherbet and bellini-like character, the session trails into a smooth but spicy bitterness of spruce, verbena, cedar, sassafras, green tea, berry and hemp.
Full bodied but relaxing as the session endures, the ale finishes malty-dry with an emphasis on hop spice that shares a gin-like collection of botanicals and sprucy bite toward the end. Lightly tannic, the aftertaste is as grassy, leafy and stemmy as it is fruity and floral.
