2022 vintage; I had this on draft 2/11/24 @ the Hopleaf.
Black appearance.
Almost no tan head; almost no lacing remained.
STRONG wood, cherry & black licorice notes in the nose.
Thick, sticky mouthfeel.
Wood & cherry flavors up front; black licorice & mild bourbon notes on the finish.
A bit abrasive, but ultimately interesting.

Had on tap. Brownish black with a huge tan head. Smells captures the smoky char with the barrel and dark chocolate. Taste has a faint vanilla note with dark fruit, but barrel, especially the oak dominate, smoky earth and dark bitter chocolate round out. Feel is very warm, malty, robust up front before smoothing out, but again the barrel is overpowering. Like the non-ba orignal better
