Chestnut brown Munich Dunkel with the aroma of warm pumpernickel bread & a hearty dose of light molasses flavor. Sweetness balanced with the trio of Tettnanger, Mittelfruh and Hersbrucker hops for a fresh hop character.

This is my introduction into the style. I have to say this is one delicious beer. The smell is soft and sweet like zucchini bread. The flavor is gingerbread and molasses. It’s malty but not overly sweet. There’s some heft in the body. It’s balanced while still showing some hop profile for contrast. It definitely makes me want to try this style from other breweries. I have to admit I’m loving the dark lagers lately and this one did not disappoint. Highly recommended.

Poured at 52°. Two fingers of mousse like khaki foam; ok cap retention; solid ring; some soapy lace on swirl; deep amber verging on coppery/ruby with good clarity. Nose is caramel malt; very light banana. Sweet caramel malt and toasted brown bread. Medium light body; smooth feel; moderate minus carbonation; dry grainy finish. Overall, more malt forward than esters; quite enjoyable.

Had on tap. Amber dark brown murky body with a tan head, periodic lacing. Smell has strong malt with mild roast, mild dark bread and a hint of dark fruit. Taste is actually sneaky really fruity with tones of raisin and date, malt is really nice but the yeast doesn't seem as developed s the second half of the sip is a bit of a whimper. Feel malt forward, with decent carbonation that helps dry out the sip, easy drinking.

"German-style Dunkel." "Keep refrigerated below 37° F?" For storage or serving? Bought off the regular aisle shelf at Binny's, tried drinking it cold and all of the flavor was stunted. Don't know.
Canned on 4-19-23 -- evaluated on 5-26-23. Tall can, short Becher.
L -- Clear, dark chestnut with amber highlights. Light tan head that settles slowly and dies.
S -- Grainy to bready malts with light, herbal, noble hops. Cocoa and light caramel emerge with warming.
T -- Dark bread crusts and light caramel with husky grains up front. Light roasted barley and toasted bread crusts with light milk chocolate in the mid-palate. Somewhat harsh, lightly bitter hops in the finish and aftertaste. A touch of tart, dark fruit in the aftertaste.
F -- Mouthfeel is soft to crisp with a light-robust body.
O -- I suppose I can add points for this not being labeled as a "Munich" Dunkel, but I was just itching for this to be smoother -- less grainy and bitter. Especially with 95% Munich malt advertised. Probably fits the characters of a Northern Bavarian Dunkel best. It's certainly drinkable and hardly offensive.

16oz. can pours a dark reddish brown with surprisingly little head that quickly fades away. Smells of roasted malts and hearty bread. Tastes of roasty caramel, brown bread, and dark fruits with a hint of cocoa. Has a super unique sweetness that I've never seen before in the Dunkel style. The sweetness is not overpowering nor cloying at all, and really works well with the dark fruit notes to really set this beer apart and make it truly memorable. Medium body with low carbonation feel and just enough hops to balance, no excessive bitterness here.
Absolutely phenomenal beer, I need to go back to Chicago and buy more, ha!

Pours a dark nut brown color. Thin frothy khaki head dissipates quickly. Aroma has notes of nutty malts, dark bready malts, and some spicy hops. Taste has notes of dark bread, spicy hops and some nutty malts. Feel is light to medium bodied. Moderate carbonation. Semi-dry finish. Overall a very nice dunkel
