Brewed specially for Michael Roper's (Hopleaf) 70th birthday. Belgian yeast is used to provide the characteristically phenolic flavor and spicy dryness. Brett is added to the beer (similar to Orval) and is aged for 3 months.

I had this on draft 1/4/24 @ the Hopleaf.
Mostly opaque dark orange appearance.
Nice eggshell colored head; a thick curtain of tree-rung lacing remained.
This smelled like Orval; orange peel, assertive yeast & lemon in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel with a sharp bite; that's Orval too.
Orange peel up front; pleasant lemon & sharp clove on the finish.
So...a very pleasurable Orval clone. If it were a touch softer it would rival the king; as-is, as I've never seen Orval on draft, this was a real treat.
