Floral & spicy aroma with notes of baked bread. Deep copper in color, malty with a bit of sweet carmel & a dry finish.

Art History is making beer that if it isn't perfect, it is 95% perfect. This is no exception. A copper colored carbonated dream in liquid form. Maltiness and spicy hops in perfect harmony. Richness in flavor. Cocoa, hints of pepper, roasty flavors, a hint of ESB style bitterness, but with more pronounced carbonation than an English beer. Clean and slightly dry finish. I enjoyed this tremendously. Absolutely great beer.

DMen Tap (Chicago, IL) Draft Notes: Art History Machine Age Altbier. $10.01 with tax 16 oz draft, 5% ABV.
Appearance: Orange bronze brown when held to the minimal light here. Cream egg white head leaves generous razor thin lacing and a thin cover over the base. Looks really good. 4.25
Aroma: Bakers chocolate, pumpernickel, roast malt, caramel. Mild in strength, enjoyed what I gleaned. 4.0
Taste: Consistent with aroma, baker’s chocolate, roast malt, caramel and toffee. Excellent. 4.5
Mouthfeel: Faint gentle carbonation, drinks light and easy, perhaps a tad under ABV. Nice balance, roast malt and hops balance the sweet flavors very well. Excellent. 4.75
Overall: Excellent Altbier. Not as familiar with this style than others, and not sure how this compares to European offerings by memory. But love what I’m getting with this one, highly recommend.
