From a 355ml can, dated 08/22/18. Served in an IPA glass.

Pours a moderately hazy pumpkin-orange with a finger or so of dense off-white foam. Retention is very good, settling back to a dense, lumpy cap with spotty lacing.

Fruity, sweaty, boozy nose of citrus rinds, unwashed girl and grain alcohol.

Tastes of underripe melon, orange juice a week past it's best-by date and a doper's old sleeping bag. Dank, rank and pretty much flat. A sort of composted orange and grain alcohol aftertaste.

Feel is slick and medium-hefty bodied. Decent carbonation can't save it from tasting flat.

Overall, not flat-out awful but I doubt that I'd seek it out.

Can: Poured a hazy/cloudy yellow color ale with a nice white foamy head with OK retention and some light lacing. Aroma of huge dank and citrusy undertones is quite pleasant with light dry hops notes also perceptible. Taste is a nice mix of light dry hoppy undertones with some huge dank and citrusy notes with some residual sugar notes also perceptible. Body is full with good carbonation. Another solid NEIPA but I still think I prefer the original version.

A:
PoursĀ an opaque orange color with two fingers of frothy white head. Okay retention; stringy lacing. (4.25)

S:
Citrus rind and BO. Orange and lemon zest, oniony funk, some white bread crust. (4)

T:
Fairly bitter, but short-lived. Citrus oils, sod, weed, hint of sappy bitterness, grapefruit. (4.25)

M:
Medium body, fairly soft, with moderate carbonation and a lingering hip oil finish. (4)

O:
A nice, more bitter version of a beer that us very good in its own right.
It pours like one would expect, glowing bright cloudy color with a juice-froth head that sticks around pretty well. The aroma and flavor are both NE-esque but with a nice kick of bitterness. The aroma is citrus and sweat (smells like a hop farmer, perhaps?). The flavor is also a little bitter compared to the regular version, with hop resin, citrus and white bread. At the finish there is a faint, fresh, fruity flavor that kind of cleanses your palate. It is drinkable, though maybe less so than a non-bitter version for some people.
This is a very good beer. It is nice to have more "classic" hop profiles in juice bombs as far as I am concerned and this is just that. At the same time, though, it gives me an appreciation for those brewers that can get a clean, layered fruit-juice flavor out of citra rather than bitterness. (4.25)
