Bottle: Poured a deep copper color ale with a nice foamy head with average retention and no lacing. Aroma of dry fruits with some notes of sweet toffee/caramel malt is very enticing. Taste is a nice mix between some dry fruits with note of toffee and caramel. Medium full body with a somewhat creamy texture and some average carbonation. Well done and something I am likely to buy again.

341 ml bottle. Best before 7 April(or March?) 2008. Limited edition released for the 20th anniversary of the brewery. Label describes it as a Ruby Winter Ale and claims it is full-bodied with plum, licorice and grape aromas. Pure malt.

A- Good beige head that sticks to the glass. A very dark ruby colour with a few amber highlights at the edges. Good bubbliness. Very attractive.

S- Malt, dried fruit. Fresher berry/plum aroma as well. Dusty carbonation odour present at first but very faint.

T- Very malty with a low hops level giving a bitter flash in the middle. Lingering roasted bitter aftertaste that reminds me a bit of some stouts. Faint hint of alcohol, I prefer this opver the stronger alcohol character you can get from higher ABV winter ales. Good caramelized and roasted grain flavours, some dried fruit as well. Very malty without being too sweet.

MF- Very smooth, full bodied ale. Make the mouth water.

D- Very nice, easy drinking beer. Good as a sipping winter ale because of good flavour but not so strong you have to stop at one.

This beer was what I was hoping it would be. Really enjoyed it.
