Pours black little head not terribly thick. Little retention, lacing. Nose is spicy chocolate, cinnamon, coffee. The flavor leads with smoky roast malt flavors, a hint of chocolate/mocha bitterness and then a pretty crisp spiciness that gets right to the verge of "spicy" and stops short. Warming feel with moderate carbonation. Could be richer, could tonw down the spice the tiniest bit and enrichen the malt character for a little more complexity there. Not bad by any means, though. Well balanced with a nice level of heat. One of the more drinkable spicy beers I've ever had too, although admittedly I haven't had tons. Pretty decent all told.
