Pours a hazy dandelion yellow with a couple fingers of head that settles to a rocky cap. Little lacing. Aroma is interesting in that it is 'juicy' in the way real juice is and not the uber-sweet tropical punch you get with a lot of NEIPAs. Bright, tart citrus, white cake, lemongrass, a sort of creamy sweetness that I hesitate to call coconut, but that is admittedly what popped into my head right away.
The flavor is a little earthier than the nose, but most of it is there. Mango peel, lime zest, finishes with some pithy bitterness. It is soft without being as juice-like as many are (once again). Medium+ carbonation, medium+ body, lingering semi-bitter hop static in my mouth.
This is simultaneously a good, to-style NEIPA and a different, unique, kind of wacky hop profile. The fact that it comes together well and has an interesting character is good for another 0.25 on the overall.
I'll admit that when I saw it was all local Quebec ingredients there's a part of me that thought, "jeez, that'll be a mess." But it's pretty damn nice overall!
