Jet lagged and sitting on a rooftop bar one evening in Norway, we waited quietly for the sun to set. We ordered a golden lager and then another and then another. The sun remained stubbornly in the sky meandering across the horizon. It was clearly the work of Loki who was keeping us from a well-deserved sleep. This Festbier is a tribute to that never ending night. A traditional golden festbier brewed as an ale with the LOKI strain of Norwegian Kviek. It goes down easy, unlike the setting sun.

This Festive Trickster ale was tasted in the opening day and hour at Moriches Field. I hadn't realized that this was a Scandinavian Farmhouse ale until later, when I read its description and the definition of Sahti at BA. Although I'm not an expert on the style, the beer bears a similarity to Saison ales. This is an interesting offering.
