Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a dark brownish red with a thin light khaki head that dissipates to patches with slight lacing. Aroma of mildly toasted malt, cocoa, vanilla, lactose and a hint of coffee. Flavor is dark toasted malt, mild cocoa, vanilla, lactose and honey; salted pretzel appears in the finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. Initially tastes like a chocolaty milk stout, but really does have a interesting pretzel-like finish with the distinct Maillard reaction character and distinct salt. Not getting much coffee, though, although it really doesn't need that extra flavor. A little light in color, body and flavor for the big ABV, but the overall flavor is good and the finish justifies the description. Enjoyable as a novel pretzel inspired sweet stout.

A noble attempt at the difficult chocolate covered pretzel stout but comes up short like so many others. Very dark brown pour, thin khaki cap and thick spotted lacing. Smell I get more salt and oxidation than pretzel, but hey there is chocolate. Taste is earthy and salty chocolate with some ash and roast. Feel is chewy, medium bodied, malty and has a light finish. Just a hard one to pull off, falls short
