Poured into a Seattle Beer Week glass. Pours a medium, coppery amber with a two finger, slightly off-white head with good retention and nice lacing. Aroma of lightly biscuit malt, citrus and piney hops, pine, orange and grapefruit. Flavor is lightly biscuit malt, citrus and piney hops, pine, orange, grapefruit and hints of light stone fruit, solid, but not assertive piney bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied with moderate creaminess. My second Beach Cat IPA has some similarity to the Smash Cat with an old fashioned biscuity malt but this one has a little more complexity to the hop flavors, with more distinct pine and citrus flavors. I like these malty styles of IPAs, but they seem to have fallen out of style for lighter, crisper malt profiles. I enjoyed this one.
