Poured from 16oz can into a tulip. No packaging date on the can, but I bought it at the brewery so I assume it's reasonably fresh. This is billed as a West Coast IPA.
Appearance: rich golden hue with the teeniest amount of haze and a ton of apparent effervescence. Head is a thick finger of frothy ivory foam which has pretty good retention. Very good!
Smell: floral and just a bit fruity; I get some sweet malt character as well. It isn't hitting me with a ton of pine like I think of in a West Coast IPA, but in general it's not bad.
Taste: quite malty with a bit of toasty character and plenty of sweetness. Again, the hops are more floral than piney; I mean, this does remind me of an older-school IPA, rather than a modern West Coast. Back to basics, I guess?
Mouthfeel: medium-rich body with a decent level of carbonation and a pretty good creaminess.
Overall: this beer just doesn't quite grab me. It's not bad, but of the Bickersons beers that I've had, it's not my favorite.
