Pours a slightly cloudy, deep golden coloration with a large, foamy head and visible carbonation. Smells of doughy malt and grassy, citrus hops, with a hint of tangerine. Taste follows the nose, with a great balance of doughy malt and grassy, quite zesty citrus hops with notes of tangerine and lime peel. Finishes with a light bitterness and acidity, as well as some lime peel lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
This makes for quite a hoppy Helles with some distinctly zesty citrus notes, which lend a certain, mild acidity to this. While that acidity probably isn't necessary something that everyone looks for in a Helles, it's rather subtle and adds a pleasant, refreshing tangy note to the beer in my personal opinion. Overall, this makes for a perhaps slightly peculiar, but very refreshing and easy-drinking summer beer if you don't mind that slightly acidic, tangy persence in the aftertaste. It's also interesting to note that is a top-fermenting Helles according to the label. Last, but not least, I should also note that the brewery sets the best-by date for this at 8 weeks, as it should be despite many German breweries still setting ridiculous 12+ month best-by dates, and you can really taste that. It's just got such a vibrant, fresh hoppiness to it.
