Poured from crowler into tulip, nice 1 finger tan head with good retention and excellent lacing. Jet black in the glass, little light passes thru. Chocolate, coffee and smoke on the nose, not a bad start. First sip is bracing, smoke is overwhelming, just realized this puppy should warm up as it has been in my fridge, stepping away for 10 min. Back, roasted coffee comes on first then fades into a big chocolate which is then overtaken by smoke, pretty aggressive, but plays well with everything. Residual smoke on the palate, but not in a bad way, just lets you know it is there. Honestly the malt bill on the smoked malt could probably be tamed down a bit to allow it to play more of a supporting role. Never the less, nice beer

Had this beer poured from tap into a shaker pint. Excellent creamy beige head atop a dark brown beer. Smokey dark chocolate smell and taste. Rich full mouth feel. Very nice beer for a cool Texas afternoon.
