Bottle, no date. DFH tulip glass.
A: Pours a murky yellow gold. Chunks of sediment. A frothy bright white head with uneven bubbles dissipates quickly. The label artwork is really cool, if you ask me. Very mod; very Frank Lloyd Wright, but with a feminine edge.
S: fruity citrus, gasoline and rubber. I suspect this beer is old. On further inspection, not su; just a very “foxy” aroma.
T: arrives dry, hoppy. Grapefruit pith, crisp dry malt, bitter finish. The lacing on this is outstanding; perhaps not old. Bitter and herbal finish.
M: decent heft for a session ale. Moderate carbonation. Well attenuated, finishes crisp.
O: buying a six pack of this was a mistake. This is a distinctive hoppy pale, but is not my style. For the uninitiated 4th of July barbecue crowd, this beer will be too strong, too hoppy and dry. For hopheads, this doesn’t really break into new territory, and the chunks of sediment are not either milkshake or classic. It’s fine beer, but a let down for me. I imagine it is a different beer entirely when fresh. (Noticed after the fact there was a packaged date sticker on the carton 3/24. This beer is more than six months old. My own fault.)
