1998 - has it been 20 years? That team might have my favorite of all the Yankee teams that I've seen over the years and I thought it was nice that Cooperstown brewed this beer in honor of them even though this wasn't much of anything special. It seemed more like a Golden Ale than an American Pale Ale, based on it's description and the way it looked and felt on the palate. Regardless, this would have been a great lawnmower beer had grass-cutting been in season now!

Of course, this had a golden hue to it with plenty of head topping it off. The lacing left behind was extensive and in the form of rocky, well-defined rings as that surprised me. Grass, lemon, soapy suds, and soft hops along the lines of Noble were in the nose as the taste was just as easygoing. Citrus tang, boysenberry, and white wheat rounded this out as it had a bit of a sour and rustic undertone to it.

The lack of overt carbonation and near-absence of alcohol allowed the odd but subtly pleasing flavor to linger for a while as this was a perfect a beer for the summer as one could find. Of course, it's winter here and nothing about baseball in the news lately has been positive but this was just enough to take me back to better days when the Bombers ruled the diamond. Canned on 7/23/18, the pinstripes on the can were a nice touch as a brew like this calls for a new category of Golden Ale to be created on this site.
