My half-liter bottle had a long journey. From Latvia it first travelled to Israel where it was picked up by my family and brought to me in New York. It is well past its prime, so I won't be too harsh on it. I am originally from Riga and this bottle has more of a sentimental value for me than anything else.
Poured this beer produced a pretty, fluffy, white head that quickly disappeared down to a spotty cover. Aroma is very weak. Taste is buttery with hops almost completely gone. This beer is obviously not for aging.
I am planning to go to Latvia this year, and I will pick up a fresh bottle to properly review this brew.

Modern version of old Riga's Original, a much-loved brew from my teenage years. Crisp, hoppy and dry - that's what it was in 1978. Well, the modern brew is rounder, fuller, more on the maltier side but still good. Bitterness hasn't disappeared and altogether taste is more compex than 28 yrs ago. Definitely wotrh a try!
