Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque black in the glass; nearly still pour with very little visible carbonation. Aroma of sweet, dark toasted malt, vanilla, lactose, light cocoa and graham cracker. Flavor follows with dark toasted malt, graham cracker, vanilla, cocoa and lactose. Cocoa and marshmallow finish. Medium bodied with light carbonation, not as still as the pour, but a bit undercarbonated. The flavor is definitely a tribute to the classic s'more. The vanilla and lactose give a great marshmallow flavor, underscored by the graham cracker and cocoa. They pretty much nailed it. All this needs is a bit of smoke, because let's face it, you gotta burn the marshmallow a little bit to be a perfect s'more. The low carbonation gets a few points off and I hope this isn't just an off can. There is enough to be passable and the flavors are good, so if this style appeals to you, I would definitely recommend it. Impressive introduction to this small brewery.
