Gem clear, light gold (SRM 4-5) with random patches of lazy carbonation. The head is dense and slowly falls from two inches to hold one quarter inch after five minutes. Thick, off-while lace forms patches on the Spaten dimpled mug.
The aroma opens with strong, biscuity malt, followed by toasted white bread and mild, spicy hops.
The malt is quick to arrive, with a toasted flavor very similar to a strong German Pilsner. The bittersweet balance is neutral. Barley grain gives way to a burst of hops in the finish and fades to a mild, drawn-out expression. Warmth adds a light fruitiness.
The body is medium, with a smooth, hard texture, reminiscent of polished metal. The alcohol seems a bit lower than anticipated. Carbonation is soft.
This one is easy drinking and just right while enjoying a crisp, early autumn afternoon.

On tap at Frequentem Brewing in Rochester, NY.
This one pours a lightly amber brown color, with a foamy head, and lots of lacing.
This smells pretty toasty, with some spicy and almost tea-like hop character, and a touch of caramel.
It should surprise no one that this is very excellent. It’s quite toasty and bready, not too sweet at all, with a nice bittersweet earthy and spicy hop character. It’s all just super well balanced.
This is crisp, super clean, and very, very smooth on the finish, with a fantastic drinkability.
The moment I saw this was on their tap list, I rushed out to Canandaigua as fast as I could. New Frequentem lagers are that important!
