On tap at Origin
It’s been a minute since I visited Origin, but I got out of work early for Christmas Eve and they just happened to open early today so I figured I’d stop in to stock up for the holiday. Let’s see what their smoke game is all about
Pours a cloudy burnt orange with 2 fingers of creamy off white head that slowly fades to a thin cap and leaves decent lacing
The smoke is front and center here but it’s supported nicely by a hefty malt backbone. I’m picking up on aromas of beechwood smoke, honey roasted peanut, dark toast, raisin, earthy hops, grapefruit pith, toffee, and light roast coffee
It’s lighter and fruitier in taste, an unexpected but welcome twist. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting brown bread, apricot, beechwood smoke, honey, golden raisin, brown sugar, light earthy hops, and black pepper. The swallow brings notes of apricot, golden raisin, oak smoke, dark toast, honey, medium roast coffee, light black pepper, and brown sugar
A light medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a slick beer. Finishes a tad sticky but dries out over time
As expected this one is dope. I’ll definitely be picking some up to go with Christmas dinner
