Alright, time to see what Origin can do with a big ole Imperial Stout. This is an odd combination of adjuncts for the style, as I'm not sure if I've ever seen cardamom used in a Stout. That being said, I trust Origin to get it right. Let's dive right in
Pours nearly pitch black with 2 fingers for creamy tan head that slowly fades to a ring and leaves decent lacing
Oh yeah, that's unique from the first whiff. I'm picking up on aromas of milk chocolate, earth cardamom, fruity coffee, peppermint, sweet vanilla, and light caramel
It's surprisingly not super forward in taste given the adjuncts and abv, and the restraint is wonderful. On the front end of the sip I'm tasting earthy mint, fruity coffee, dark chocolate, raisin, vanilla beam, and dark bread. The swallow brings notes of cardamom, vanilla bean, light roast coffee, milk chocolate, mint, light orange zest, and caramel
A full body pairs with very gentle carbonation, resulting in a slick and oily beer. Finishes slightly sticky but nicely balanced
This one is really good. It's quite out there, and that cardamom really drives a mint vibe that I'm enjoying. This brewery is great
