Alright, Origin goes Czech Dark! Their Czech Amber I had recently was quite good, but this is definitely my preferred style of the two. I’m very curious to see what their take on the style is, so let’s crack it open and find out
Pours nearly pitch black with 2 fingers of light tan head that fades to a thin cap and leaves minimal lacing
The nose is quite mellow here but I dig it. I’m picking up on aromas of drip coffee, brown bread, cocoa powder, toffee, light herbal hops, and light caramel
It’s quite similar in taste, nothing amazing but definitely solid. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting dark toast, cocoa powder, peppery hops, medium roast coffee, brown sugar, and light raisin. The swallow brings notes of drip coffee, milk chocolate, brown bread, brown sugar, herbal hops, raisin, and light toffee
A light medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a crisp beer. Finishes neutral but a bit sweet
Well it’s not my favorite beer in the style, not even close, but it’s always nice to have a new example of it
