Until just a few weeks ago I’m pretty sure I’ve never tried a beer hopped with Nectaron. It was a Wedge Issue variant from Carton that I quite enjoyed, so naturally I had to give this one a shot when I stopped at Origin. Let’s crack it open and see if it can live up to that beer
Pours a hazy orange gold with 2 fingers of soapy off white head that slowly fades to cap and leaves minimal lacing
The nose is quite fruity and bright, good stuff. I’m picking up on aromas of overripe cantaloupe, mango, pineapple juice, bready malt, grassy hops, light weed, and papaya
The fruity vibe in taste is less sweet and more more citrusy which I dig. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting orange juice, overripe cantaloupe, tangerine, bready malt, underripe mango, grassy hops, light papaya, and lychee. The swallow brings notes of orange zest, pineapple juice, peppery hops, bready malt, overripe cantaloupe, and light grass
A medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a smooth yet biting beer. Finishes mostly dry with a balanced juiciness
Well, Origin certainly knows how to handle their haze game. I can’t wait to try the Pale Ale next that makes use of the second use Nectaton hops from this one
