Carrying on with my Origin tasting after a pause for dinner, we have an American Pale Ale that utilizes second use hops from the DIPA I just had from them, Everything Asked For. There is fresh Citra and Nelson hops in here as well, so I’m wondering how much the second use hops will actually shine through in this one. Let’s find out
Pours a hazy dark yellow with 2 fingers of creamy off white head that slowly fades to a cap and leaves decent lacing
The nose is really rather bland on this one but not necessarily bad. I’m picking up on aromas of orange zest, papaya, bready malt, resinous hops, and light cantaloupe
It’s unfortunately even more bland in taste, it’s kinda just watered down fruit juice and bread. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting orange juice, bready malt, grassy hops, and overripe cantaloupe. The swallow brings notes of bready malt, orange marmalade, resinous hops, light fusel alcohol, and papaya
A medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a slick and watery beer. Finishes neutral with a strange fermentation character
Yeah, this one is quite weird. There’s just not much going on and what is present is not great. Oh well, it’s not the worst thing I’ve ever had
