16oz can served in a Nordic Cooler. Pours the color and clarity of cola with a soft, sudsy head that quickly disperses towards the shoulders. Base of the glass exhibits ruby highlights when backlit. Nose expresses notes of roast and caramel malt. Taste follows nose with the addition of some nutty notes. Flavor is extremely subdued. Mouthfeel is light in body with an easy, soft carbonation that’s almost still. Overall, pleasant and quaffable. I bet this would be a winner on-cask.

Pours a dark, dark brown color. Completely opaque thanks to how dark it is. Thin one to two finger tan head on the beer than lingers for a short time then dissipates. A thin residual layer of splotchy foam does stick around on the beer. Aroma has notes of nutty malts, some bready notes, a fleeting kiss of coffee and pumpernickel.
Taste follows the nose with rich brady malts, a touch of nuttiness, cocoa, a hint of coffee, pumpernickel and a touch of earthy hops. There is a touch of tobacco and a slight twang to the beer - this is what I think @Rug described as orange marmalade . Feel is medium bodied, smooth, easy drinking. Definitely drinks like a sessionable pub ale. Very mild carbonation - appropriate for the style, but even so, I still need this on cask.
Overall a fantastic English dark mild ale. I drank this way too quickly and was left wanting more - the golden standard for a sessionable pub ale.

Origin doing a Dark Mild? This has to be good, I just know it. I’m impressed that they can bounce back and forth seamlessly between classic and modern styles. After the absolutely insane Tonka bean Imperial Stout I had from them last night, I’m excited to try something more gentle. Let’s dive in
Pours a slightly cloudy dark reddish brown with 2 fingers of creamy beige head that fades to a thin cap and leaves minimal lacing
For only being 3.2%, it’s bold and well rounded in the nose, and much more complex than you’d expect. I’m picking up on aromas of pumpernickel bread, cocoa powder, earthy hops, raisin, sweet honey, toasted walnut, brown sugar, orange marmalade, caramel, and light toffee
While it’s less complex in taste, this is still very flavorful, especially given the low abv. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting dark bread, earthy hops, drip coffee, dark cherry, brown sugar, toffee, black tea, and light orange zest. The swallow brings notes of pumpernickel toast, black tea, earthy hops, cocoa powder, raisin, brown sugar, and light molasses
A light body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a pillowy yet crisp beer. Finishes dry and super refreshing
This is absolutely awesome. It’s just about tied with the Dark Mild from Forest & Main for my favorite example of the style
