I’m running low on beer from Origin. This is my last new one to review from my last visit, and I think I’m due back again. I’ve really been digging everything I picked up last time, and I’m sure this last one will be no different. Toasted coconut is of course quite the common adjunct in beer, but I can’t say I’ve seen a beer with ube before. Let’s crack it open and see what it’s all about
Pours a very dark brown with 2 fingers of rocky dark tan head that slowly fades to a thin cap and leaves minimal lacing
It’s pretty gentle in the nose, just a classic roasty Stout with some sweetness to it. I’m picking up on aromas of medium roast coffee, dark chocolate, charred malt, dark toast, sweet vanilla, toasted coconut, and burnt caramel
The rooty notes from the ube are way more prevalent in taste. It’s weird but fun. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting dark roast coffee, toasted coconut, sweet vanilla, black pepper, dark toast, dark chocolate, and light raisin. The swallow brings notes of earthy ube, sweet vanilla, raw coconut, toasted almond, medium roast coffee, dark toast, light molasses, and milk chocolate
A light medium body pairs with moderate carbonation, resulting in a roasty beer. Finishes bone dry and earthy
This is super weird, but I can get on board with it. It’s odd just how different the aroma, initial taste, and aftertaste are. Good stuff

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
