I forgot I still had this left from my last trip to Origin back in January. In fact I forgot to add it to the BA database until now. It’s pretty cool to see them tackle a no adjunct Imperial Stout. They excel at the adjuncted ones with a thoughtful restraint, so this should be great too. Let’s dive right in
Pours a very dark brown with 2 fingers of creamy light brown head that slowly fades to a thin ring and leaves minimal lacing
This is surprisingly fruity in the nose, almost like a roasty Quad. I’m picking up on aromas of red grape, almond, dark toast, raisin, molasses, vanilla bean, cola, brown sugar, and light char
It’s way less fruity in taste, instead focusing fully on the roasty aspects. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting biscuity malt, medium roast coffee, vanilla bean, burnt toast, red grape, dark chocolate, and brown sugar. The swallow brings notes of molasses, burnt toast, dark roast coffee, cacao nib, black cherry, black tea, and vanilla bean
A medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a beer. Finishes mostly dry with a balanced bitterness
To absolutely nobody’s surprise, thisbis yet another winner from Origin
