A Sultana, Trident and El Dorado hop journey from beginning to end. Immediate refreshing bitterness flows into faint passion fruit and grapefruit aromas floating above a slightly sweet pale malt base. The perfect gateway craft pale ale.

As with most session-strength APAs, Ripchord is approachable and easy-drinking but, ultimately, unsatisfying. The grapefruit and resin is there but it’s dialled right the way back. Bitterness is very light. Mouthfeel is okay but a little thin (saved by the good level of carbonation). The style just doesn’t suit sub 5% ABV (unlike English pale ales).
