A fine tan head atop a dark copper; caramel and toasty aromas; up front malt flavors of dark fruit and toast with a light touch of tobacco; low bitterness.

A scant one-eighth inch, light chestnut head forms a fine foam. No lacing forms as the head quickly dissipates to only a trace. Within the Pretentious Beer Glass Company spun glass Weizen glass, the beer is gem clear, copper, with light auburn highlights (SRM 15-17).
The malt is rich and sweet with caramel and dark toast. Nuts come and go, while the sweet malt varies from caramel to taffy as it warms.
The flavor follows the nose with much milder sweetness. Modest bitterness helps preserve balance. Malt is prevalent with some brown sugar and a ton of freshly baked wheat bread. While clean on entry, it becomes a bit muddy in the long, mild finish. The finish adds a toasted bitterness and light smokiness.
A medium body and soft-smooth texture. Alcohol is below expectations. Carbonation is very light and prickly.
This makes for a great drinking beer, even though the alcohol is too high for a session. I can see one enjoying a short pour after work. It pairs very nicely with franks and beans.
