On tap at Faircraft Brauhaus in Fairport, NY.
This one pours a dark golden brown color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
The spice level on this one seems spot on, with some warming nutmeg, cinnamon, etc, a touch of dried fruit, and a nice bready and caramelly aroma as well.
This could have been a disaster, as winter-spiced beers can be so heavy handed and potpourri like. But this is not, with a pleasant warming spice to it, almost like mulled cider without the apple flavors. The base lager is really nice too, toasty, caramel, and bready.
This is light bodied and really drinkable, with a nice creamy finish on the end.
This is really quite good, and really unique for our area – I don’t think I’ve seen any local brewery do a sort of winter festive lager, or whatever you want to call this.
