Forbidden Helles is our tribute to the wonderful full-flavored lagers of Bavaria. With notes of fresh-baked bread and a subtle kiss of noble hops, this otherwise light lager exhibits beauty in its subtlety. Crisp, golden, and refreshing, we hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Pours a clear, golden in color with minimal head and lacing. Carbonation looks average to above average. Pretty standard looking Helles, with perhaps less head than usual. Aroma is sweet grains and lime. Flavor follows the aroma quite well. Lots of lime with a sweet grain backbone -- predominantly corn. I can also taste the water and the carbonation. It's not a bad flavor, but it's pretty one-dimensional. Mouthfeel is light and zesty, highly drinkable as it should be at 4.8%.

Overall this is a solid session beer, but it doesn't really come off like a German-style Helles to me, it's more like a Mexican adjunct lager. If it were labeled as such, my rating would probably be a bit higher. But as a Helles, it's pretty middle of the road.
