Packaging notes:
12 Oz pre-packaged can direct from the brewery. Code 21322 B&B stamped on bottom of can. (My guess that means day 322 of 2021, which is November 20). Label is "Bronze and Brew", 4.9% ABV. According to the brewery it is the same recipe as Cream Weaver, so in order to consolidate the reviews, I am reviewing it as such.
Appearance:
Medium-Gold, very slight haze, 2 finger sudsy head that recedes to a thin cap of foam and erratic lacing.
Aroma:
Fresh baked bread (mostly the alcohol smell of it), buttermilk biscuits and clover honey. No detectable hops.
Flavor:
Crisp pilsner malt, bready, corny with a slightly sweet aftertaste. Not flabby or doughy. Very faint earthy hop flavor and bitterness. Very friendly to the PBR or Miller High Life drinker's palate.
Mouthfeel:
Light Body, Nominal CO2 for style, no astringency, feels "smooth"
Overall:
A tasty cream ale that stands up well among it's peers. No technical flaws. Sure, this initially presents itself like a mindless guzzler or BMC gateway beer but after having a few of them in various contexts I began to discover traits I had not previously detected at first blush. The characteristics described above are subtle, so you have to spend a bit of time with it to appreciate them. Aroma and flavor amplify in a positive way once it warms up a bit.
P.S.: Not bad tasting for a 5 month old beer (assuming I was correct about the code on the bottom).
