Poured from a bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a clear deep golden color with a fizzy head of white foam. The head fades rather quickly leaving a touch of streaky lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is heaviest of caramel and toffee mixed with notes of a bready and doughy malt. Along with these aromas comes notes of a light herbal and earthy smell mixed with a touch of corn.
Taste – The taste starts with a bready and biscuit malt flavor mixed with a bit of caramel and notes of corn and a touch of toast. As the taste advances, the sweet fade a tad, all while the grain and malt get a bit more intense with the addition of some doughy flavors along the way. At the end a tiny bit of a earthy hop joins in, leaving one with an easy natured slightly more malty (for a 4.4 % abv brew) taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body is medium in thickness with a moderate carbonation level.
Overall – An alright lager overall. Easy drinking and flavorful, all while maintaining a low abv.

Obolon Brewery "Zhygulivske Export"
500 ml brown glass bottle without production codes or freshness dating
$4.49 @ Total Wine & More, Claymont, DE

Notes via stream of consciousness: It's poured a clear golden body beneath a short head of white foam that appears to be holding well. Plenty of tiny bubbles can be seen rising within, adding to the cap of foam. In the nose it's grainy and floral. It's fresh, and fairly bright. On to the taste... it's quite grainy, and lightly sweet but also backed by a stiff bitterness that leads to a dry finish. It's grainy, grassy, floral, softly herbal, lightly fruity, and subtly spicy - there's a whole lot of flavor here for a beer of just 4.4% ABV. The balance is great, and this is a really drinkable and refreshing beer. In the mouth it's medium bodied and crisp. All in all I'm pretty impressed. The grainy malt is quite flavorful and the hop component is surprisingly complex, and all of that's wrapped up in just 4.4% ABV ! I could certainly enjoy quite a few of these on a hot summer day. The only drawback for me is that there wasn't a lot of lacing left behind but that's hardly an issue, is it?

From the half liter bottle, it pours a clear light golden color with a nice white head that reduces to a thin layer and leaves lacing. The nose gets a pleasnt light malt scent. The mouth follows with the same - light lager, easy drinking and sessionable.
