We are having so much fun with our two-hop series, Chuckleheads. We don’t throw a bunch of names of different hops into a hat and pick two. We really try to think how hops will interplay with one another through vigorous discussion. We even adjust on the fly by touching up with an additional dry hop during the maturation process, favoring one hop or the other.
We chose Strata for the strawberry notes, which we believe would complement the citrus/pineapple of Citra, and the two combined to form a beautiful tropical blend reminiscent of tangerine and strawberry.

Didn't get a chance to have the original iteration of this but I traded for this can recently with a friend who was able to make his way down there. I haven't had much from these guys but I passed through their brewery once on my way home from Source, and it seems like they know what their doing and have a bit enough following. This nicely constructed but the taste wasn't quite up my alley as it was a bit too outdoorsy and acrid for me, with a basic array of hops for good measure.
This had a nice pour to it as the muted peach hue to this let in enough light around the edges. Tons of head topped this off as the lacing left behind was deep, layered, and contained well-defined rings. Lots of strawberry patch, sharp citrus, and soft hops in the nose as the taste was acrid, sticky, and reminiscent of fresh vegetables. Some cantaloupe and subtle stone fruit emerged as this warmed up, with a basic malt profile that made this feel full-bodied. The carbonation was fine as there was more Strata than Citra to be had here.
Enough booze was in this as there was a feeling of wheat that emerged in the aftertaste. The carbonation was also spot-on as this had a good liveliness to it that made it easy to quaff. Dated 1/25 on the bottom of the can with "YO LUNCHBOX, HURRY IT UP." written above it, this had a nice label for Kevin Smith fans and was a decent take on the style. With so much better than this available in this neck of the woods, a bit more flavor and a stronger aroma would have made this a solid offering!
