Appearance: Pours a slightly hazy golden colour, with a 1-finger head which quickly dissipates to nothing. Little effervesence, light lacing.
Smell: Mango, pineapple, guava, orange, rockmelon and honey – all those good tropical aromas, but with a slight wheaty skunk.
Taste: A bit on the mild side, the lemon zest tang is predominant, with a hint of rosewater, guava, rockmelon, and a slight malt sweetness. This is against a mineral water base. Fairly sessionable, but doesn’t pop much.
Mouthfeel: A mild tang, little effervesence, but a good tang and oil to keep this nicely drinkable. Clean and sessionable, but a little on the flat side. Canned, then tasted within 4 months – maybe better fresh.
Overall: A drinkable and sessionable ale, but doesn’t really pop and has a couple of small flaws. Happily drinking it, but room for improvement in a crowded segment. Had a 6 pack gifted, but keen to check out some of the unique limited releases this brewery does – maybe the more specialised brews will stand out more as they genuinely sound interesting.
